Oman: 5 killed in multi-vehicle collision, including 3 Emiratis; 11 injured

Eleven others have sustained injuries, including two Omanis and nine Emirati citizens of which five are children

Five people have been killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Sultan Said bin Taimur Road in Dhofar Governorate today, Oman Police said in a statement on Friday, July 11.

The collision involved three vehicles and took place at 7am, the authority said.

Initial reports indicate that two Omanis and three Emiratis have died. Eleven others have sustained injuries, including two Omanis and nine Emirati citizens of which five are children.

The air division of the Oman Police transferred the bodies of the deceased to Thumrait Hospital.

Last week, four people were killed after a bus carrying children crashed in Oman. The tragic incident took place when a bus rolled over after colliding with a stationary object in Al-Rusaiss area of the Izki Governorate.

The bus driver along with three children died in the accident, according to preliminary information during the investigation. Meanwhile, 12 children are said to have sustained various injuries.
