A road accident in Oman has resulted in the death of one Indian and nine others injured after a vehicle veered off the road on Sultan Said bin Taimur Road, which connects the northern regions of the country with the Dhofar and Al Wusta governates in the south.

Although the exact cause for the incident has not been disclosed, Oman authorities had earlier issued a warning for low visibility on the highway due to thunderstorms, heavy rains and blowing dust.

Rescue operation

Two of the individuals injured in the incident were transported from the Al Hema Governorate to Nizwa Hospital through a rescue operation carried out by The Royal Oman Police Air Wing.

After they were airlifted from the scene of the incident, they were transported by ambulances to receive medical care.

Two days ago, the police air wing conducted another medical evacuation via helicopter. One citizen was flown from Haima Hospital to Nizwa Hospital, while five others were transported by ambulances. This case also involved an accident on Sultan Said bin Taimur Road; however, in this incident, the injuries were caused by the collision of two vehicles.

Sultan Said bin Taimur Road, previously known as N3, is the longest highway in Oman, connecting the southern and northern parts of the country.
