The Ministry of Interior in Kuwait reported on social media that a boat was spotted on Sunday morning, February 8, 2026, engaging in illegal fishing in violation of regulations and safety requirements.
The ministry said the vessel was detected as part of its ongoing efforts to maintain security and order in territorial waters during routine maritime patrols conducted by the General Directorate of Coast Guard.
When authorities attempted to stop the boat’s captain, he failed to comply with orders and immediately attempted to flee. Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior confirmed that three individuals were involved: one Gulf citizen and two stateless persons with prior criminal records. The boat was also found to be unregistered as a fishing vessel, in violation of its issued permit.
Following legal procedures, the boat was confiscated and destroyed, and the individuals were referred to the relevant authorities to take all necessary legal action against them.
The ministry emphasised that anyone attempting to break the law or endanger the safety of security personnel will not escape punishment, and it will continue to pursue offenders firmly to ensure the safety and security of Kuwait’s territorial waters.
