Kuwait denies viral video of hole in public road near port

Kuwaiti authorities on Sunday denied a viral video going around social media showing a hole in a public road.
The Ministry of Public Works in its statement clarified that the clip dates back several years. The footage showed a gaping hole in the road near one of the ports in the country.

This is not the first time the gulf country has spoken out about false footage circulating online. In April this year, Kuwait’s Health Ministry said that a widely circulated video showing medicines passing through an airport was outdated and unrelated to the ministry.
According to Kuwait laws, criminal penalties may be imposed for sharing false or misleading videos online, particularly where the content is considered capable of causing panic, harming public order, national security, or undermining confidence in state institutions.
