Kuwaiti authorities arrested two men for uploading video clips containing phrases and scenes mocking the Kuwaiti Armed Forces, the authorities announced on Wednesday. According to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, the individuals attempted to undermine the Air Defence system’s role in national security.

After interrogation, both confessed to filming and publishing the content. They have been detained, and legal procedures have been initiated to refer them to the competent authorities. In a related crackdown, another man was arrested for using a social media account to post abusive statements and content that could negatively affect international relations. Authorities noted that the individual had displayed images of leaders of designated terrorist organisations in his profile.

On March 2, the MOI monitored and arrested several individuals involved in serious violations that threaten the security and stability of society. They illegally filmed incidents and circulated video clips, actions which contributed to inciting unrest, misleading public opinion, and spreading fear among citizens and residents.

The Ministry affirms that such actions undermine the military institution's prestige. Relevant authorities have taken immediate measures. After the investigation, the two admitted to filming and publishing the content. They have been detained, and legal procedures are underway to refer them to the competent authority.

The Ministry of Interior emphasised that its Criminal Security Sector continues to monitor social media platforms and workplaces and to take firm action against violations. Those arrested were involved in filming incidents, circulating misleading videos, and expressing sympathy with terrorist organisations, actions that authorities said incited unrest, misled public opinion, and spread fear among citizens and residents.

“The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding national security and will not hesitate to pursue anyone who violates the law,” it stated. “Warnings have been issued previously, and attempts to undermine the country’s security will not be tolerated.”

Bahrain arrest

Meanwhile, in Bahrain, authorities have detained a suspect for posting an AI-generated image falsely depicting a residential neighbourhood under attack. The Cybercrime Prosecution revealed that the suspect’s post, shared with approximately 15,000 followers, caused widespread panic by suggesting extensive damage amid ongoing regional tensions.

The Public Prosecution ordered pretrial detention pending investigation into the fabrication of visual content. Authorities are examining the suspect’s mobile phone and investigating the source of the AI-generated imagery, which they said could harm national security and disrupt public order.

Earlier, Bahrain’s Anti-Cybercrime Directorate also arrested a 35-year-old individual for misusing social media by filming and publishing content related to alleged Iranian aggression targeting multiple locations. Authorities confirmed that legal procedures are underway to refer the individual to the Public Prosecution.
