Kuwait has formed a specialised task force to combat human trafficking and migrant smuggling. The force was formed within the country's Public Prosecution authority to ensure victims protection, and enhance investigation efficiency.

The team will have the following responsibilities:
Developing standardised procedural models for identifying and protecting potential victims
Activating the national referral system for victims
Developing investigation methodologies and evidence collection techniques
Preparing standardised forms for documenting cases and judicial procedures related to victims of human trafficking
Reviewing existing and emerging cases, identifying practical challenges, and submitting necessary recommendations
Establishing a comprehensive database for human trafficking and migrant smuggling cases and preparing periodic analytical reports to be submitted to the Attorney General
Establishing technical guidelines for members of Public Prosecution and judicial authorities regarding crime indicators
International coordination to address observations contained in relevant UN and regional reports ; preparing required responses and information
Proposing and implementing specialised training programmes for members of the Public Prosecution and judicial authorities
Kuwait also recently introduced a law that tightened penalties for drug crimes, with punishment entailing life imprisonment and death penalty.
