Kuwait announced on Tuesday, March 17, it had uncovered a terrorist group in the country affiliated with Hezbollah.

The Ministry of Interior said it had arrested 14 citizens and 2 Lebanese individuals who had organised a plot to "target the sovereignty of the country, destabilize its stability, and spread chaos and disrupt public order, thereby posing a direct threat to national security and endangering the safety of citizens, residents, and the state's capabilities".

During investigations, a number of items were seized, which included: firearms and ammunition; a weapon used for assassinations; encrypted communication devices (Morse); drones; flags and images specific to terrorist organisations; maps and narcotic substances and financial amounts; training-specific weapons.

The authority said investigations are currently ongoing, with necessary measures being taken against the group. The individuals will be referred to the Public Prosecution, while security agencies continue their efforts to pursue anyone proven to be linked to such terrorist groups.

The ministry warned residents that the security and sovereignty of Kuwait is a red line that cannot be violated, and any attempt to collaborate with external terrorist entities, endorse them, sympathise with them, or provide them with financial support at the expense of national security will be met with strict and decisive measures.

It further emphasised there would be no leniency toward any party proven to be involved in such acts that undermine the country's security and stability.
