GCC, Arab, Islamic country FMs say future of relations depends on Iran ceasing attacks

The ministers condemn the attacks and reiterate the nations' right to protect themselves

The ministers of foreign affairs of a number of Arab, Asian and GCC countries met on Wednesday, March 18, in Riyadh, regarding the ongoing Iranian attacks in the region.
The nations represented at the meeting were UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan.

Condemning Iranian attacks
The ministers discussed the Iranian attacks on GCC countries, Jordan, Azerbaijan and Turkey, condemning the missiles and drones directed towards residential areas and civilian infrastructure, including oil facilities, desalination plants, airports, residential facilities and diplomatic missions.
They said that the attacks cannot be be justified under any circumstances and reiterated the right of the nations to defend themselves.
Call to cease attacks, not finance militias
They also called on Iran to immediately stop the attacks and respect international law. The ministers called for de-escalation and diplomatic solutions.
In addition, Iran has been called on to not only cease the attacks and avoid threatening neighbouring countries, but also to stop supporting, financing and arming affiliated militias in Arab states.
They further called on Iran to refrain from actions that could obstruct the Strait of Hormuz or threaten maritime security in Bab Al Mandeb.
Future of relations with Iran
The foreign ministers said that the future of their countries' relations with Iran depends on the latter:
Respecting state sovereignty
Not interfering in internal affairs
Not using military power to threaten countries in the region
Not attacking countries in the region
Condemning Israeli aggression in Lebanon
The ministers reaffirmed their support for the full sovereignty of the Lebanese state and its security. They also affirmed their support for the Lebanese government’s decision to restrict weapons to the state.
The foreign ministers have condemned Israel’s aggression against Lebanon and its expansionist policies in the region.
The ministers concluded their statement by saying that they will continue to meet and coordinate to assess developing situations, and to take necessary measures to protect their security and end the Iranian attacks.
