The Rs6.7million novel lab van equipped with state-of-the-art instruments like a near-infrared spectrophotometer, an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, an ion mobility spectrometer and a Raman spectrophotometer for on-the-spot detection of fake drugs will be introduced later this year.

FDCA commissioner H G Koshia told Khaleej Times that such labs were usually found in developed countries like the US but the new facility would help step up surveillance in Gujarat.
