Four ‘robbers’ shot dead 
by police

Four alleged robbers were shot dead by Karachi police after a gunbattle in the early hours of Saturday in the lower middle class locality of Gulshan-e-Iqbal as at least 18 people including two law enforcers lost their lives during the past 24 hours in the mega city.

According to police, four armed robbers were confronted by a police party when they tried to enter a house located near Disco Bakery. During the ensuing encounter all the four alleged criminals were gunned down by police marksmen while no law enforcement official was injured.

Eyewitnesses told newsmen that the police, on receiving information about the dacoits first sealed off the bungalow and later in exchange of fire four alleged robbers were killed while two managed to escape.

A police official said that the robbers were heavily armed and the police party recovered arms from them while their identity was still being probed.
