A team of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) sleuths led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Kunhan took a statement from the CPI (M) veteran based on a questionnaire. The questioning lasted two hours.

The case pertains to alleged irregularities in assigning 2.66 acres of land to one T K Soman, an ex-serviceman, in the northern district of Kasargod. The present Congress-led United Democratic Front government quashed the transaction and ordered a vigilance probe on June 1 last year saying the allotment was in violation of the norms.

This is the second time that vigilance officials are taking statements from Achuthanandan, who has been named the first accused by the authorities.
