The former president calmly recalls the attempted assassination in videotaped testimony released Monday by a federal court — 38 years later.

The president was shaking hands on a Sacramento street when Fromme pushed through the crowd, drew a pistol and pointed it at Ford. He was not hurt.

In the testimony posted by The Sacramento Bee ( ), Ford recalls seeing a “weathered” woman in a brightly coloured dress. He then saw a gun coming through the crowd but not who was holding it.

Fromme was sentenced under a law covering assaults on US presidents. She was released from prison in 2009.
