A local court has granted bail to Prof Mayur Gupta, a reader, and the five third-year students accused of mentally and physically torturing their junior in the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Technology and Engineering, last week.

The six have been booked for criminal intimidation and wrongful confinement for allegedly ragging Harshvardhan Sutariya.

The accused students had allegedly forced Sutariya to do obscene acts on the premises of the department, while Prof Gupta is also alleged to have passed objectionable remarks about the ragging incident and not paying attention to the victim’s complaint.
