While former Bombay high court judge Justice Hosbet Suresh confimed whistleblower cop Sanjiv Bhatt’s allegation that Modi had asked the police to go soft on Hindu rioters, legal expert and human rights activist Girish Patel compared the high-nosed Bharatiya Janata Party leader with German dictator Adolf Hitler.

Justice Suresh, who had visited Gujarat soon after the 2002 communal riots, told a television channel and later a select group of journalists in New Delhi that former minister and Modi’s bete noire Haren Pandya had told him that the chief minister had called a meeting in February, hours after a train was set on fire at the Godhra station and instructed senior police officers to let Hindus exact their revenge.
