The second round of trilateral talks between the US, Russia, and Ukraine has kicked off in the UAE Capital, Abu Dhabi, as part of diplomatic efforts aimed at advancing the political course of the Ukraine crisis.

After a similar first round of negotiations in the emirate late last month, the Kremlin said the talks between Russian and Ukrainian negotiators had been held in a "constructive spirit" but that there was still "significant work ahead". Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also stated that during the Abu Dhabi meeting, "a lot was discussed, and it is important that the conversations were constructive."

The two-day meeting in Abu Dhabi was the first time negotiators from Moscow and Kyiv had faced each other to talk about a plan being pushed by US President Donald Trump to end the nearly four-year war.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its hope that this round will contribute to building on what was achieved during the first round and its support of progress towards broader understandings.

Commending on the keenness of the parties concerned with the diplomatic track, the Ministry stressed that the UAE's hosting of this round reflects its solid and balanced relations with the three parties, and international confidence in its role in facilitating dialogue and providing a supportive environment for the constructive talks led by US President Donald Trump.
