Son of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, directing him to appear before investigators for his alleged involvement in the multi-billion rupee ephedrine case.

The court presided over by Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry also reversed orders by the Prime Minister's office and the Establishment Division reshuffling the top officers of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) comprising serving military officers who were overseeing the probe including Director-General Major General Shakil and his deputy Brigadier Fahim. The bench noted that the entire investigation team had been changed.

Musa Gilani allegedly influenced the health ministry to issue a licence to two firms that belonged to Multan for import of nine tonnes of ephedrine against a permissible limit of only 500 kilograms. The drug is used in medicines but has also intoxicating effect, due to which restrictions have been imposed for its import and use.

Musa Gilani had defied summons by investigators to appear before them on March 20.

Earlier, Secretary Narcotics Suhail Ahmed was replaced by promoting a junior officer Zafar Iqbal. The prime minister gave dual charge of ANF to Zafar Iqbal who stopped the investigation.

Brig. Fahim who had last week testified against Musa Gilani again appeared before the court on Tuesday and informed it that he has been transferred. Fahim said during investigations he was called by PM's Principal Secretary and was told that Gilani is very upset by the investigation and pressured him to discontinue it. But he refused to do that.
