Qatar tipped off Al Qaeda about an Arab coalition military operation in Yemen which resulted in a suicide bomber injuring Emirati troops, said UAE Ambassador to Russia Omar Saif Ghobash in an interview to the BBC.
"Our Qatari allies informed Al Qaeda of our precise location and what we were planning to do. We then received four suicide bombers at our door," Ghobash told BBC Hardtalk.
When asked to provide proof on Qatar's role in promoting terror, he said this incident was one of the reasons the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other countries cut off diplomatic and economic ties with Doha last month.
"We had a number of soldiers that were injured. We have had Emirati soldiers dying as a result of Qatari activities."
There were voice recordings and video evidence to prove Qatari supported terror groups. "Everybody knows Qatar has a close relationship over the past few years with Jabhat Al Nusra which is an Al Qaeda affiliate," the envoy said.
Doha has broken ranks and has played a divisive role in the Arab campaign in Yemen, Libya and Syria, he said.
