Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood names new leader

CAIRO - Egypt’s main opposition movement, appointed Mohammed Badie, a conservative figure, as its new leader, his predecessor told a news conference on Saturday.

Badie, a veterinary professor at a university in southern Egypt, was “chosen by consensus by members of the consultative council,” Mohammed Akef said, adding the Brotherhood would work for a “renaissance” across the Muslim world.
