Dhofar University opens new campus in Salalah

MUSCAT - Dhofar University (DU) inaugurated its new RO30 million campus in Salalah at a ceremony presided over by senior royal family member Sayyid Shihab bin Tareq Al Said and attended by several other dignitaries, including ministers, state advisors and top officials from the government and the private sector.

The new campus includes administration buildings, the main library, the colleges of Arts and Applied Sciences, Engineering and Commerce and Administrative Sciences, a students centre, a conference hall that can accommodate 1,300 people, hostels for 800 women students, and staff accommodation.

Dr Rawiyah bint Saud Al Busaidiyah, in remarks to reporters, observed that the inauguration of the new campus coincided with the country’s 40th National Day celebrations.

She added that the new premises was an example of the ideal use of a grant from His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to private universities in the country.
