At least 87 people were wounded, Lieutenant Colonel Aziz al-Amarah, commander of rapid response police force in the southern province of Wasit, told Reuters.

The attack followed a series of explosions around the country, including one in the Iraqi capital, where a suicide truck bomber killed at least 11 people and wounded 34 others in another attack on a police station.
