Khurshid Shah says PM needs to review dialogue process afresh.
Senior Pakistan People’s Party and Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Khurshid Shah, said on Friday that the talks with the Taleban have lost usefulness after the recent incidents of terrorism.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would now have to review the dialogue process afresh and be a genuine leader of the country.
Talking to media on arrival here, Khurshid Shah said that the talks in the midst of incidents of terrorism have fallen behind, while the weak position of the government was harming the country.
The PPP leader said the government didn’t make any contact with the opposition after the new wave of terrorism, while it was running after the Taleban for talks.
Media trial
Maulana Samiul Haq, a member of the committee nominated by the Taleban, has said the government committee is conducting a media trial of the dialogue process.
Maulana Samiul Haq was responding to statements made by government committee coordinator Irfan Siddiqui.
Siddiqui had said the Taleban committee had not apprised them about the next meeting, adding that the government team was willing to meet any time.
Maulana Samiul Haq said they had not refused to meet the government committee. He added that statements being made by the government committee were not based on facts. Maulana Samiul Haq further said that the committee nominated by the Taleban had issued a response to the government committee immediately and were in constant contact with them. news@khaleejtimes.com
