The Public Authority for Civil Aviation in Oman has issued its sixth alert regarding the category one tropical cyclone, Luban.
According to a report in the Times of Oman, the storm's centre has been found to be located 240 kilometers from Salalah. The speed of the wind has been recorded to be 45-55 knots in the vicinity of the storm centre.
Public Authority for Civil Aviation in Oman (PACA) has issued an advisory, asking citizens and residents to take complete precautions and to avoid venturing into low lying areas and the wadis.
They have also been told not to venture into the sea and to be aware of the latest weather updates concerning the storm. These updates will be rolled out every 12 hours.
Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and floods in Dhofar will also continue, the latest alert added.

Oman had earlier announced the closure of schools in Dhofar as the cyclone gathered strength in the Arabian Sea, five months after Cyclone Mekunu killed 11 people in the sultanate of Oman and Yemen.
Luban will have no direct effect on the UAE for the coming five days, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) in UAE, had said.
The Centre has further stated that it is closely monitoring the situation on the hour and will provide updates accordingly, urging public to follow-up the official reports by the NCM and avoid rumors.
According to the NCM the cyclone is continuing to move west - northwest toward the Omani and Yemeni coasts. The wind speed around the centre will be 125 to 145 km/h during the upcoming 24 hr.
