The police told the Trivandrum judicial magistrate court that there was a strong ground for suspecting that sub-inspector Biju Salim had involved in activities having a bearing on national security. They sought his custody for gathering further evidence.

The court has remanded him to police custody till March 27. The police claimed that they had come across crucial evidence showing that Biju Salim had maintained active links with outlawed outfits.

Biju, who was with the high-tech cell of the state police, was arrested on Sunday and sent to judicial custody. He has been accused of sending out a forged letter to the media saying the government wanted 268 e-mail IDs hacked. The police said that Biju had sent a list of email IDs they found in the possession of a person probed in connection with another case after removing the names of members of other communities to the media along with a forged letter in a bid to foment communal hatred.
