Hearing the case relating to the bogus voter lists, the chief justice accepted that non-resident Pakistanis were a vital source of foreign exchange .

The chief justice said that Pakistanis living abroad should be provided with the facility of postal ballot to enable them to exercise their rights to vote in the general elections.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), earlier, had decided against providing voting facilities to overseas Pakistanis for the upcoming general elections citing several problems in allowing the overseas Pakistanis to cast their votes during the next general elections.
