Bahraini woman minister named media personality

MANAMA - A Bahraini woman minister has been named the Gulf media personality for the year 2010 ion recognition of her efforts to promote media in the region.

Minister of Culture Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa was awarded the title on Wednesday by the Gulf Society for the Press and Freedom of Information and the Arab Society for the Press and Freedom of Information (Araprs).
Shaikha Mai won the prestigious award for her constant defence of the freedom of speech and expression. Both societies stressed that the award was an appreciation of her work and in honour and respect for Shaikha Mai who dedicated all her efforts to promotion of media. Shaikha Mai was selected by 30 judges from all GCC countries.
