Bahrain to open school in Egypt

A school bearing the name of Bahrain is to be constructed in one of Egypt’s governorates. His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa instructed the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) to build the “Bahrain School”, in support of Egypt.

Chairman of the RCO board of trustees, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, extended thanks to the King, who is also honorary chairman of RCO, hailing his humanitarian initiatives in support of brotherly and friendly countries and peoples. Shaikh Nasser commended fraternal and historical relations between Bahrain and Egypt. He hailed the school as part of the RCO-strategy to launch development projects benefiting friendly and brotherly countries. RCO secretary-general Dr Mustapha Al Sayyed has been assigned to supervise the construction of the education project in cooperation with relevant Egyptian authorities.

New curricula for KG students

A new kindergarten educational curricula will be launched at the beginning of the upcoming school year as curricular specialists, educational experts and nursery teachers have teamed up to develop the new programme.

Education Minister Dr Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi announced plans to start distributing the newly-published kindergarten textbooks to pre-schools to be included at the beginning of the new school year.

The new curriculum is centered on five main themes: “I am in kindergarten”, “Bahrain, my homeland”, family and home”, “animals”, and “communication and interaction”. “The new curriculum aims to promote linguistic, mathematical, scientific and social concepts and foster a number of values among children”, Dr Al Nuaimi said.

Training for soil-less farming

Under the patronage of the Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources, Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al Khalifa, a training session to educate and train women about the soil-less farming will kick-start next Wednesday.

The session aims to encourage women to be self-reliant. Modern farming experts will conduct the one-day session.

Books for a good cause

Bahrainis have donated over 5,000 used books to help children in Kenya. The Bahrain New Dawn Ladies Society coordinated the campaign with the Bahrain Women’s Development Centre (Reyadat) in support of the Charles and Rita Field-Marsham Foundation, a philanthropic enterprise focusing mainly on education, development and health in Africa.

Reyadat director Shada Al Jalahma described cooperation with the Bahrain New Dawn Ladies Society as part of the social activities aimed at supporting women associations and promoting the efforts of the centre to spearhead women-run projects.

Child abuse awareness drive

As part of the awareness campaign organised by the Ministry of Social Development against all forms of child abuse in Bahrain, Social Welfare Department has distributed 1,000 posters titled “what is child abuse.”

The awareness campaign coincided with the lectures being delivered by the Child Protection Centre to educate the masses at large on how to deal with children who have been exposed to abuse.

The centre seeks help from relevant institutions, including schools, social institutions, universities and media institutions in its efforts to spread the message against child abuse.

The lectures are to be attended by students, parents, sociologists and psychologists to boost campaign about children rehabilitation.
