Bahrain Petroleum Company sponsors sports for disabled federation

The Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) recently sponsored the Bahrain Federation for Sports for Disabled, as part of its continued efforts in supporting the sporting sector and the disabled in Bahrain.

In this regard, Bapco’s general manager — human resources & administration & acting general manager exploration & petroleum engineering Ghassan Ali Al Muhanna received President of the Federation Shaikh Duaij bin Mohammed Al Khalifa to present the sponsorship cheque in support of the federation’s activities and programmes.

ASRY in the running for innovation award

ASRY, the leading ship and rig repair yard in the Arabian Gulf has been nominated for the Ship Repair Innovation Award at the 2014 Seatrade Maritime Awards MEISA. The shipyard made the shortlist due to its 2014 initiative called Project Jupiter, which aims to make ASRY the regional leader in Onsite Specialist Contractors. The winners will be announced in Dubai on October 27.

The Seatrade Maritime Awards are designed to celebrate and reward excellence and innovation in the maritime sector across the region. Widely recognised as the region’s most prestigious industry awards, the night is attended by more than 750 maritime and shipping personalities and is regarded as one of the key networking event in the calendar. An independent judging panel made up of experts in the regional and international maritime industry will select the award recipients.

FinMark keen to make a mark at Global Islamic Banking Summit

The 21st annual edition of the World Islamic Banking Conference (WIBC 2014), which will be held under the patronage of Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and supported by the Central Bank of Bahrain, has announced FinMark Communications, a leading financial and business communications agency, as the event’s communications partner.

GPIC crosses 10m tonnes milestone in urea exports

The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has announced it has exported a total of 10 million tonnes of granular urea, yet another addition to the company’s extraordinary track record.

The milestone was achieved on October 14 with the completion of its ship number 341 after 16 years of the urea plant operations, which started production in 1998.

A ceremony was held at the GPIC complex in Sitra to mark the occasion. The president of the company, Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery, led the celebration and other attendees participated.
