UAE leaders offer condolences to Chinese President over Hong Kong building fire

Hong Kong's deadliest blaze in decades have claimed at least 128 lives

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a message of condolences to President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China, over the victims of the residential complex fire in Hong Kong, which resulted in several deaths and injuries, wishing a speedy recovery to all those injured.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE and Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, sent similar messages to the Chinese President.

The blaze that ripped through a massive apartment block in Hong Kong has claimed at least 128 lives, surpassing the toll of a similar incident at London's Grenfell Tower in 2017.

A government spokesperson said on Friday that firefighting operations at the city's deadliest blaze in decades have ended, as scores are still missing.
