The impeachment complaint against Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte was declared "sufficient in substance”, following an overwhelming 54-1 vote by the Philippine House of Representatives Committee on Justice on Wednesday, March 4.
The Committee is then expected to submit the results of its deliberations to the Plenary for further debates whether the official deserves a full impeachment trial by the Philippine Senate.
The complaints against Duterte include the misuse of confidential funds, bribery and unexplained wealth, and publicly threatening to have Marcos killed, along with his wife and a cousin who was House speaker at the time.
The daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte had earlier declared she would run for the top post in 2028.
