Plane carrying Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar crashes, 'no survivors' yet authority says

Rescue operations are still underway as teams can be seen putting out the blaze on the site of the crash

A plane carrying Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, crashed in Baramati on January 28, killing the minister and other individuals on board.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the veteran politician was on board with two other passengers and two crew members.

The authority said in a statement: "As per initial information, no person on board has survived the crash."

The plane was engulfed in flames after crashing in the Pune district. Rescue operations are underway, and three bodies were recovered from the wreckage initially.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences on the passing of Pawar, saying, "His untimely demise is very shocking and saddening. Condolences to his family and countless admirers."
