Pakistan partially closes Lahore, Karachi airspaces until May 31 amid ongoing tensions with India

The closure is a precautionary security measure and aircrafts will be rerouted via alternative flight paths during those times, media reports said

The airspace over Jinnah International in Karachi and Allama Iqbal International in Lahore, Pakistan will be temporarily restricted till May 31 due to security reasons, media reports said.
The Express Tribune said that some portions of the airspace in Karachi and Lahore will be closed daily from 4am (3am UAE time) to 8am (7am UAE time) from May 1 to 31, citing an official notice from the country's Civil Aviation Authority.
According to the report, the aviation authority said that the temporary closure will not significantly affect commercial flight operations. Aircrafts will be rerouted via alternative flight paths during those times.

The media report said that the temporary closure is a precautionary security measure.
Pakistan had last week closed its airspace to Indian-owned or operated airlines following the killing of 26 men in an attack on tourists in Kashmir.
India shut its airspace to Pakistani airlines until May 23.
Media reports also said that new directives were issued to monitor all flight movements, including foreign aircrafts transiting through Pakistan's airspace.
