The jawan had 'inadvertently crossed over into Pakistan territory while on operational duty', Indian Border Security Forces said

Indian Constable Purnam Kumar Shaw, who had been in the custody of Pakistan Rangers since April 23, was handed over to India today, according to India's Border Security Forces (BSF).
The jawan had "inadvertently crossed over into Pakistan territory while on operational duty" in the Ferozpur sector on April 23, and was detained by Pakistani forces, according to a statement by BSF.
The handover of the jawan took place at the Attari-Wagah border, BSF said. The repatriation of the constable was possible through "regular flag meetings with Pakistan rangers and through other communication channels," the Indian forces added.
