Techie arrested for allegedly harassing cabin crew on Dubai-Hyderabad flight

Hyderabad police have arrested a software professional for allegedly misbehaving with a cabin crew member during a flight from Dubai to Hyderabad on Friday, news agency PTI reported.

According to RGI Airport Police Inspector Kankaiah Samapathi, the accused, a Kerala native in his 30s, reportedly touched an air hostess inappropriately while she was serving passengers. The cabin crew further noticed that the passenger appeared to be under the influence of alcohol/intoxicated.

The incident that occurred on Friday, November 28, was reported to the captain and ground staff after the flight landed, police said. After landing, the passenger claimed he had lost his passport. During the search, airline staff discovered a note containing obscene and abusive remarks directed at the crew.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 75 (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with other relevant provisions. The accused was produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.
