India issues safety alert; urges citizens to leave Iran 'by all means'

The Indian embassy in the Islamic Republic issued the fresh advisory 'in view of the evolving security situation' in the country

India on Monday (February 23) urged all its citizens residing in Iran to leave the country "by all available means of transport, including commercial flights".
The Indian embassy in Iran issued the fresh advisory "in view of the evolving security situation" in the Islamic Republic.
"All Indian citizens and PIOS (Persons of Indian Origin) should exercise due caution, avoid areas of protests or demonstrations, stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Iran and monitor local media for any developments," the advisory read.

"All Indian nationals in Iran are requested to also have their travel and immigration documents, including passports and IDs, readily available with them," the statement added, noting that citizens should contact the embassy for any assistance.
