Advocate Abid Hussain was gunned down by unidentified men riding on a motorbike at the busy Burns road. The killers escaped after the murder.
According to the police, more than Rs60,000 in cash were found on the advocate along with an identity card that clearly showed that the killers were after Abid’s life.
When the body was brought to Abid’s house in Rizvia Society, angry protesters forced the shops in the area to shut down that created problems for the motorists in the surrounding areas.
Abid was the fifth lawyer of the city to be killed since January this year.
Last year 20 lawyers were killed in Sindh province with 15 of them in Karachi alone.
Earlier in January, three lawyers were shot dead and a fourth was wounded when gunmen sprayed the lawyers’ car with bullets on Maulana Din Mohammed Wafai Road near Pakistan Chowk when they were going home from the City Court. One of the deceased was a senior lawyer and the others were his son and nephew.
