It was an unusual sight at a South Carolina beach when some visitors spotted a preying bird soaring with a massive shark-like fish in its beak. 
The video of the hunting bird was posted to Twitter following which intrigued netizens speculated about the species of the bird. Posted on Twitter by @trackingsharks, the video was shot by Ashley White, from Erwin, Tennessee, from her level 17 hotel balcony in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on June 22, wrote Tracking Sharks on their website.
Twitter account @trackingsharks shared the video along with a caption: 'Anyone know what type of bird this is and is it holding a shark?', reported NYP

After the video went viral on social media, bird watchers and experts ascertained that the fish was not actually a shark but a ladyfish, a species that can grow up to 3 feet long with sharp teeth and a dorsal fin. While a birdwatcher named David Barrett, who runs the twitter account Manhattan Bird Alert, revealed that the killer bird was most likely an osprey. 
Since being shared on June 30, the video has garnered over 28.4 million views on Twitter.
