US military says three of its service members killed in Iran operation

Three US service members have been killed in action as part of US military operations against Iran, the US Central Command said in a statement on Sunday.

Five others were seriously wounded as "part of Operation Epic Fury", it said.

"Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions — and are in the process of being returned to duty," the US Central Command added.

With major combat operations and response effort continuing, the situation "is fluid," it said.

"Out of respect for the families, we will withhold additional information, including the identities of our fallen warriors, until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified," the US statement added.
