The decision to bar the entries of Bukhari and Aitzaz was taken during a meeting of Sindh lawyers, organised by the Karachi Bar Association. Earlier the two leading jurists were barred entry by bar associations of Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Lawyers have accused them of becoming part of the alleged conspiracy against Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry and the judiciary.

Aitzaz had led the lawyers’ movement in 2007 and became iconic in the struggle for independence of judiciary against military ruler Gen. Pervez Musharraf.

Both Aitzaz and Bukhari have denied accusations and vowed to defend the dignity and integrity of the chief justice and the Supreme Court. They have also declined to represent real estate tycoon Malik Riaz in the contempt of court notice issued by the Supreme Court against him.
