A religious scholar was shot dead in the Nazimabad area whereas three others were killed in separate incidents of violence in the city, DawnNews reported.

At least four unknown assailants opened fire on a rickshaw near the Board Office intersection in the Nazimabad area, wounding its passenger Allama Taqi Hadi Naqvi.

He succumbed to his wounds while being shifted to the nearby Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Renowned in the academic circles, Hadi was born in the Indian city of Moradabad and moved to Pakistan along with his family after the creation of Pakistan.

The Shia organisation Majlis-e-Wahadatul Muslimin has announced a three-day mourning and demanded arrest of the killers.

In another incident, the administrator of a local madressah and his son were shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in the Sachal area of the city. The cook of the seminary was also wounded in the attack.

Two more religious scholars were killed allegedly by the same band of motorcycle riders in the city.
