12 passengers die as bus falls into ravine in Pakistan

At least 12 people were killed and 14 others were injured when a passenger bus plunged into a ravine in the Bagh area of Azad Kashmir.

The ill-fated bus was traveling from Saddan Gali to Rawalpindi when it met with the accident near Arja in AJK’s Bagh area.

Sources said when the passenger coach reached Arja it went out of control of the driver and plunged into a ravine. Initially eight people died on the spot while 14 passengers sustained injuries.

The injured were shifted to district headquarters hospital, where 4 more died taking the death toll to 12, while the condition of three passengers was stated to be critical.

Security and rescue teams shifted the victims to district headquarters hospital whereas those who were critically injured were shifted to CMH in Muzaffarabad.

Police sources said the deceased included five men and three women, adding that the accident was caused by over-speeding.
