11 dead as bus plunges off cliff in Brazil
At least 11 people were killed and as many injured Monday afternoon in a Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, after a passenger bus plunged over a cliff, Xinhua reported.
According to Brazil ‘s federal highway police, with 29 passengers on board, the bus was travelling from Itaperuna municipality in Rio de Janeiro state to Rio. It skidded off the highway near the Guapimirm town in a mountainous region. What caused the accident could not be immediately known.
The bus driver was among the victims, and the injured have been taken to nearby hospitals by local rescue units and the country’s Civil Defence officials.
