Relive A R Rahman's greatest hits
Fans of the Oscar- and Grammy-winning singer will want to catch this! A R Rahman will be taking audiences through a dazzling tour of his greatest musical achievements in a spectacular concert at Bollywood Parks Dubai. Aptly titled The Journey: A Celebration of Music, the concert will take place today (January 26) from 9pm-11pm (although gates open at 6pm), and see performances by other talented singers like Neeti Mohan, Harshdeep Kaur, Javed Ali, Benny Dayal, Jonita Gandhi,  Keba Jeremiah and Haricharan Seshadri. Tickets can be purchased at Platinumlist Dubai.
Calling all brides!
The premier UAE wedding event Bride is back with a bang! Set to take place from February 7-10 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, and May 9-12 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, visitors can expect to find an abundance of wedding inspiration. If you're a bride-to-be, you'll surely want to check out these international and regional designers as well as industry suppliers. There will also be fashion shows, live demonstrations and music, inspiring talks and on-trend advice. Last, but not least, brides-to-be can partake in the Lucky Bride competition - one lucky lady will win a bridal package worth Dh100,000 that includes everything from hair and makeup to a fantastic honeymoon! Tickets to the event can be bought at www.thebrideshow.com.
Have a truly cool snack
NOVO Cinemas has recently introduced frozen popcorn into its menu and we're sure it's something to watch out for. Available in two flavours - salted and caramel - these delectable treats are flash frozen with liquid nitrogen and release clouds of vapour when chewed - elevating the movie experience, no doubt! Also, watch out for flavours like double chocolate, orange, masala and spice buffalo that will be coming soon. The snack is priced at Dh7.50 and is available at Ibn Battuta and Dubai Festival Mall.
Fancy a round of 'mumprov'?
Courtyard Play House is launching a course of improv designed for mums. The eight-week course will have women work as a team to create stories and scenes, learn the art of improv, and have fun while they're at it. It aims to improve self-confidence and communication. The course will take place from January 30 to March 16, through six one-hour sessions. Fees are Dh1,000 and you can register at www.courtyardplayhouse.com/events/improv-mums-mumprov/.
The great shoe swap is back
Aldo, in association with The Red Crescent UAE, has launched the charity initiative #Aldosolemates to encourage customers to give their pre-loved shoes to those in need. On February 3, from 9am-
11am (although you might want to get there as early as possible), residents can give away a pair of shoes (any brand) and get a brand-new ALDO pair in return! Arrive post 11am and you'll get 50 per cent off when you donate a pair. And be rest assured that your pre-loved shoes are going to someone who will really treasure them!
