Okay, you may not own a stable or a horse! But that's no reason to not want to learn more about our equine friends. So whether you just want to horse around with a game or learn a thing or two about equestrianism, these are the apps to get you on the right hoof.
Horsemanship - Equestrian lessons for horse back riders
This app is the first in a series of equestrian training apps and offers a lot more than just riding tips - it provides a deeper understanding of horses. Whether you're a new horse owner or planning to be one, this app will serve as a portable guide book. There's also a similar app - Good Horsemanship: Equestrian - that's free on Android.
My Horse
Want to have your own virtual horse? This is the app for you. Groom, feed and train it any way you want - the graphics are pretty good and the horses look quite realistic - and make it participate in challenging competitions. There's even an in-game camera that takes pictures of your horse eating and playing in the paddock.
Horse Haven World Adventures
From big shots Ubisoft, this simulation game that follows the Farmville mantra is all about creating and managing a dream horse farm. Raise exotic breeds and learn about the different horse breeds along the way, then join competitions and race your horses against your friends in steeplechase races.
Stable Diary
If you're looking for the complete solution to keeping your horse healthy and fit, this is the app for you. It keeps you connected to all your horse's info, from reminding you when you need to shoe the horse to when vaccinations and de-worming are due. The Track Your Ride feature uses your phone's GPS to act like a fitness tracker for your horse as well.
Horses!
Learning about horses is made fun and engaging with this educational app. The multiple choice quiz format keeps things challenging, all the while teaching you about different kinds of horses. There is also detailed information on different breeds' history and other trivia.
