With regard to the scrub you suggested for the entire body, published in the November 17 issue, I would like to know whether the scrub (1 teaspoon powdered oats mixed with coconut milk) can be used by younger people (age bracket: 11 to 18 years).
- Sharon
Natural home remedies can be safely used for kids, so do not hesitate doing the above treatment; if done every day, you will see super results. You need 2 tablespoons of coconut milk and enough oats powder to make a smooth paste to apply on the entire body.
I am a 12-year-old girl. I have hair on my upper lip and I could really use a homemade remedy. I also have small pimples on my nose and areas around it that hurt a lot. The areas on my ankles and knees are black. I could also use a homemade remedy for dandruff as I have a lot of dandruff, and so my hair keeps falling. Please suggest some remedies with ingredients that can be found easily.
- Manali
Upper lip needs a scrub made of egg white, corn flour and rice powder. Apply a thick layer of this, and, once dry, scrub against the hair growth. For your pimples: take tamarind pulp mixed with oats powder, and apply on the nose. Allow to dry and rinse with cold water. Do this every day to calm the skin; this will help heal the pain and pimples. For dark heels and knees: apply potato juice (by making pulp and squeezing out juice); this will help lighten them. For dandruff and falling hair: take yoghurt and lemon juice in equal parts, mix well, and massage on scalp; shampoo after 1 hour. Do this twice a week.
I am 14 years old and have extremely oily skin. My nose has a lot of pimples on it. Please tell me how to reduce oil on my face and get rid of the pimples.
- Name withheld
Take 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon tomato purée; add oats powder and rice powder to the mix and make a thick mask; apply on the pimples. Leave on for 1 hour daily. Rinse off with cold water; never use hot water on your face as this will aggravate the pimples.
I am a 46-year-old woman and I am using Vegetal hair colour for my grey hair. The colour does not last for more than a week and the application is uneven. Please advise how I can resolve this issue.
- Anitha
Vegetal hair colouring is natural, so do not expect results what chemical hair dyes give. For Vegetal colour to be long-lasting, keep it on your hair for over an hour; that will help.
I'm a young girl with decent hair, but I want to make it very smooth, silky and shiny. Please suggest a very easy and effective remedy.
- Chaitra
To get smooth, silky and shiny hair, it's important to drink 10 to 12 glasses of water daily. Additionally, brushing hair two to three times daily brings the natural oils from the scalp to the hair, making it smooth and shiny. Eat nuts; and add a few teaspoons of organic extra virgin oil to your diet. For treatment: massage extra virgin oil in your hair; after 5 minutes, apply a well-beaten mask comprising of 1 tablespoon of warm honey and 1 teaspoon lemon juice on your hair; comb through, and leave on for 30 minutes; follow with a shampoo wash. Do this each time you shampoo.
