So this month, put your mind to the ultimate test by downloading these zany apps. They're guaranteed to banish all boredom - and keep you on your toes.
Monument Valley
This puzzle gains points for its vivid world-building and ethereal architecture. Follow the silent princess Ida through a series of physics-challenging levels and geometry to unlock hidden paths, mysterious monuments and optical illusions. It's easy to play and you can twist and shape the worlds to help Ida escape the 'crow people'. There's also no time limit (for those of you who hate that unnecessary pressure) so you can just go about it at your own relaxed pace.
4 pics 1 word
It's free, it's fun and it's downright addictive. 4 pics 1 word (as you may have already guessed from the name) provides you with four pictures that have a common theme, and a limited time to get the answer right. As you guess new words, you unlock more levels and there are 'achievements' to be won as well. This is the perfect app if you're looking to while away time.
Happify
If you've resolved to be in a more peaceful state of mind this year, this is for you. Happify is a much-lauded app that takes users through a series of activities developed by scientists, to help them reduce stress and banish negative thoughts. With encouraging exercises such as 'noting' and 'cherishing' victories during the day, and quizzes, polls and a 'gratitude journal', this one is bound to put a smile on your face. There's a reason The New York Times called it 'the most sophisticated positive vibes app available now.'
The Room Two
The sequel to the BAFTA award winning The Room, this is a 'physical puzzler' that has you prodding on-screen items to reveal a cryptic tale and an intriguing plot. The game draws you into a world of exploration as you assist a mysterious professor by the name of AS. The puzzles are tricky, the interface flawless and there's cool haunting music to boot. Priced at Dh7.29, it's a bit costly (for an app) but it's really worth it. Fireproof Games have also released The Room Three but advanced graphics means it isn't currently compatible with a lot of devices out there.
