Since the head offices are based in Silicon Valley, Neha's work involves negotiating time zones to ensure efficient work delivery and results. Also a mother of an active nine-year old girl, Neha is always on her toes, balancing press announcements and events with karate lessons for her daughter. This is how she maintains a work-life balance
Spending time with my daughter
This is my absolute favourite activity! My daughter, Samara, and I both enjoy eating together and dinners are a great time for us to bond and chat and catch up. It is invigorating to become a kid with her, be silly and laugh and enjoy the simple things in life like blowing bubbles into a glass of milk or fighting over Piccadilly in Monopoly! A day can never feel too heavy or tiring after a goodnight hug from her!
Listening to music
I enjoy listening to all genres, especially classical Indian movie love-ballads and good old English classics. But what really gets me is singing. I find it every therapeutic to sing my heart out, be it an Indian classical raga or a peppy number. I have trained in Hindustani classical music for a year but had to discontinue it prematurely. I hope to restart again soon. Till then, it is good to keep the throat warm! I am also lucky to be part of a like-minded music group and we meet every few months to explore music together.
Trying my hand at cooking
I find it very exciting to try out new recipes and innovate with old ones. My guinea pigs tend to be my circle of close friends and my daughter! I find cooking, with its balance of aromas and textures and colours, meditative and it actually soothes my brain and frayed nerves at the end of a demanding day.
Meeting friends
You can never stress the importance of friends as the most effective de-stressing tool! A cup of coffee, a few good laughs, a little bit of gossip, some stimulating conversations, a new book review, and boom - you are refreshed and ready to take on the world. For me, these evening rendezvous work really well as they keep me refreshed for my late work nights!
Keeping fit
I walk for about 30 minutes every day. I am lucky to reside in Motor City, one of the finest communities in Dubai, with its greenery, landscaped gardens and cobbled streets. Walking is a pleasure here, with its umpteen tracks and paths. I also hit the gym for an hour three times a week for serious mental and physical relaxation. There is no replacement for the benefits of exercise, both physical, and more so, mental.
Catching up with my shows
Watching animated movies with my daughter is one of my favourite stress busters, with Shrek and Ice Age featuring on both our lists of favourite movies. I also believe that an episode of FRIENDS a week keeps the doctor away! It is an eternal favourite though Game of Thrones currently has me hooked.
