So, National Day is round the corner - December 2. It's time I bought something in line with the Emirates. Gallery One has come up with a range of statement art pieces that commemorate the nation's heritage. This lovely montage of camel art can occupy pride of place at home... Ships of the desert anchored close to my heart.

Going grey for green
I've never had green fingers... not even a green thumb. In an effort to change that, I've been pottering about - in my mind - as to what "green" baby steps I can take. This set of two concrete pots in a warm grey colour (please note how I don't say "dull grey") would look real pretty indoors (since I don't have a garden); money plant in one and aloe vera in the other?

Being BlackBerried
To all those who said the BlackBerry is an anachronism, I say boo. I've been chuffed no end at RIM's slew of new products: earlier this year, there was the KeyOne, and now there's Motion - an all-touch smartphone. Okay, no QWERTY keyboard, but I'm - being a loyalist - rooting for the brand here. This BB baby is water- and dust-resistant, boasts a new anti-scratch display technology... and has an amazing battery life, I hear. And, of course, the reasons why I love BB: the "hub" and it being the world's most secure device! Also, simply love the logo on the control button.

Haute Anatolian on a cool afternoon
Ruya is one of my favourite restaurants - especially if I can manage to snag an al fresco table on the terrace, so I can enjoy the fine weather and watch dhows cruising past on the Marina. The food, needless to say, is superlative. To make it easier for me to zero in on dishes, the Anatolian-themed restaurant is offering a set lunch on Saturdays. Three courses. These include my faves... like the adana kebab and the pan-fried sea bream with almond simit. Saturday afternoon fervour.

Simply red
Nail paints. One can't have enough of them. You want them in every colour possible. Lottie London's fall-winter collection is bursting with new ideas, but the one that called out to me is simply red. Called 'Icon-o-holic', this is a shade of red that I absolutely love, and never seem to find anywhere. Not too bloody, not too flashy - just ripe red. I hear reds will be the on-trend colour for the coming months, so, on my part, it's turned out to be an informed preference. Of course, I don't know why it'll be on-trend for the coming months: this doesn't need a season!
