We here at wknd. are pretty platform agnostic. And since we all have phones that run on different platforms, we try to give you the best apps across platforms. This week, we’ve got a bunch of trending apps on WP8.1, for all those rocking the Metro UI. And best of all, they’re free!

The Voice
Talent shows are huge in the Middle East and NBC’s The Voice is no exception. This official app for WP8.1 brings you even closer to the show’s latest happenings and offers a neat and seamless way of voting for your favourite contestants. Not only can you easily keep track of them, you can share your thoughts on social media through the app. There’s also a nifty feature that lets you recommend songs for contestants to sing.

ArabsTurbo

ArabsTurbo is an online portal for auto enthusiasts, motorsports addicts, speed junkies and petrol heads. Whether you want to find out about the latest cars through hands on videos and interviews or just catch up on the latest events like drag races and drifting competitions across the region, this is the portal for you.

TileArt

One of the peeves Windows Phone users had initially was the lack of customisation. But from WP8 onwards, we’ve seen a whole bunch of customisation features added to the platform. TileArt, from Microsoft, was created with the simple objective of giving users more control over what their home screens and lock screens look and perform like. You can even create a layered effect by combining different images.

Timelapse Studio

Timelapse Studio lets you create cool timelapse sequences and save them as .mp4s on your phone, which many apps out there have as a paid option. The app is easy to use and offers a number of features such as focus, exposure compensation, white balance and more. You can trim the ends of the video, set a delayed start time, specify a capture completion point (like number of slides or timer), and even choose from a nice selection of filters.
