Rupi Kaur doesn't believe in mincing words. I guess there's no reason why she'd need to since words are the metaphor to her world. The viral - and much-lauded - 'Instapoet' says with a straight face that she went "online" (read: social media) to seek shelter for her body of work because she was broke at that time... Other than Insta-fame that followed, the freedom she experienced on social media - as she freely wrote about existential angst - got to her. She also admits self-publishing turned out to be a much better "process": she didn't have to pander to the whims of established publishers. Then, she goes on to talk about being in search of an identity - more specifically a South Asian identity - and how she's courted controversy with a fair bit of aplomb, considering she's all of 24. There are more layers to the fascinating Rupi Kaur who, in a nutshell, encapsulates what it means to be a viral force: being able to have her finger on the pulse of an audience that's short on attention. Find out more about the "patron saint of millennial heartbreak" as she chats with WKND exclusively.

I've always been a big fan of Akshay Kumar - ever since I'd first laid eyes on him in Khiladi - so I was delighted to learn that the unlikely-sounding Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is packing 'em in to the theatres. Read about Bollywood's most bankable star in this week's piece by Khalid Mohamed. And I was, again, delighted to learn that dogs and cats (in that order) are getting a raw deal... and by that I mean they are being initiated into the "raw diet" by loving fur parents; yes, the UAE's first organic pet food company is in business now, and it's always wonderful to read about these kind of heartwarming initiatives.

The Travel piece this time almost made me pack my bags and head out to misty Satoli in Uttarakhand. And back-to-school recipes in Kitchen Classics almost made me think back to my school days... fondly. What it means to have a twin, quite an eye-opener on all the possessiveness pangs. All this and much more.

Enjoy reading WKND and have a great weekend.
