Sit on a high chair facing the expansive Meydan track, sipping on French grapes and watching thoroughbreds galloping on the lush green turf towards the finishing line, it can't get better than this.
The elegant interiors with its extravagant over-sized chairs and classy, luxurious fittings, not to mention flambéed dishes featuring some of the finest steaks, meticulously prepared next to your table, offer an unmatched experience.
You could start with piping hot bites like the delicious Wasabi Prawns with mango salsa or Pan Fried Crab Cake. Follow that up with some enticing main course options like the Char-Grilled Gulf King Prawns, Seared Salmon or fillets of Rangers Valley black Angus. Try their Steak Diana or Steak Rossini, which go into flames in front of you only to appear on your plate as gastronomic delights. All steaks come with delectable sauces and freshly grilled veggies.
Finish the dining experience with heavenly flambéed crepes and you're set for the big race.
Taste: The standout dishes were the Black Angus Steak and the Slow Cooked Lamb Ribs. What caught our fancy was the flambéed crepe, Suzette. It's a delight to watch the dish 'on fire'. The soft crepes were deliciously wrapped in a sweet, citrusy syrup and liqueur and went down well vanilla ice cream.
Ambience: The chic interiors, with luxurious furnishings, high ceilings with elegant chandeliers and oversized chairs will make you feel like a king. The ceiling to floor glass windows offer a full view of the Meydan Racecourse. The piped music was tastefully selected. It makes for a fitting venue for a quiet, candle-lit, romantic dinner for two.
Service: As always, if you're in a hurry, this is not the place to 'make a meal out of it'. But service staff ensure you are well looked after and keep dropping by. And they did impress us with their courtesy, professionalism and extensive knowledge of all things F&B.
Presentation: Don't expect your usual steakhouse presentation when you visit Prime. Each dish is elegantly presented. The table itself has a grand look and as in the title of the restaurant, the look and feel of each dish are prime. There's something classy about the place and its cuisine.
Value for money: The prime cuts of meat offer the best bang for your buck. At Dh410 for a meal for two, what you get is an experience that's class apart. Prime serves some of the tastiest cuts of steaks. And their signature dishes come at extremely reasonable prices. At Dh110-160, it's money well spent - for the ambience alone.
